Summer and crew are coming tonight for a one-night sleepover (and to pick up Cutchy-boy)! We'll be sad to lose Truett's little sidekick (Truett asked if Cutchin could stay "for weeks and weeks"). (Next week I'm hoping to put together a Little Boys Adventure Guide, by the way)
We're tinkering with the idea of driving down to the beach for the day tomorrow, or we might just enjoy a lazy weekend at home. What are you up to this Memorial Day?
Speaking of fun family activities, check out The Great American Backyard Campout.
This is our neighborhood! And that house (in picture) is right down our street! (Thanks, Jane!)
I looove this doxie sketch :)
Perfect to go with my beach-uniform. (originally via hiphipgingin)
Truett would LOVE this toy truck that nods at daddy's career (Thanks, Sarah H.!)
These pictures have me dying to plan a baby shower (the picture of the mama-to-be in a doorway takes my breath away).
One of my favorite hair tutorials to-date. What fun!
Check out the chocolates Mark Zuckerberg had at his wedding. Familiar?
I adore this inspiration board. Haha, look at the newspaper headline.
Have a great weekend you guys!!

Bud and I were stressing a little last night trying to plan out our rest-of-the-year budget. Not something you think about when you're 21. Wait, you guys sit around and plan your year? In...money? Wow <gulps cheap cocktail>.
It's all happy, fun stuff but there's travel on the horizon and pesky college accounts for the kids & of course our gorg new house where I'm all yes, silk curtains, YES.
So Bud started looking up train travel as an alternative to flying, and then Georgia posted the cutest picture on facebook of herself riding the train this morning (to Baltimore?) and I began to daydream. Crisp outfits, hot coffee served in a white porcelain mug (I know, not anymore), a newspaper or intriguing book to read.

When we were little our parents took us on an overnight train trip & I've never forgotten the thrill of sleeping in those tiny, fold-down beds.

And finally, the perfect travel wrap.

PS - my brother proposed to his wife on a train as they crossed the Hudson!

I've made smoothies before similar to this, but with Greek yogurt. Either way it's a healthier alternative to ice cream but still tastes SOOO good. I found this recipe in Redbook and made it while visiting Summer this past weekend.
1 bag of frozen strawberries
2 or so tablespoons of powdered sugar
Enough whipping cream to make smooth (we used abt 2/3 of the pint container)
Blend all ingredients in a food processor until smooth. It comes out thicker than a smoothie but softer than ice cream. It tastes AMAZING - like fresh strawberries and cream and is super easy!

"Listen boys, we need to talk about something. In this house, we don't poke each other in the booty, ok?" (And I mean IN)
"Why?"
"Because booties are a private area, we don't touch other people's."
"But he poked ME in the booty TWICE outside today."
"Hence this conversation."

When I went to pick up paint at Sherwin Williams the other day they had the super-nice stuff on sale for about what we would spend on the regular paint buckets. You know how some things are worth the splurge and for others you might as well go with the cheapest? I think this one is worth the splurge. Bud said he had MORE than enough paint for each room and even managed to paint most of the hallway in the tan color we chose.
Here are a few pictures of the dining room color, if you're curious. It looks like cake icing - I just want a bite! LOVE.
